About Sirius Technology

Sirius Technology (siriustec.it) is an Italian telecommunications and network infrastructure operator, delivering connectivity to thousands of end customers over a constantly growing MikroTik fleet. To keep up with service growth, Sirius needed to turn device provisioning from a craft activity into an industrial, repeatable, fast process.

The challenge

As the MikroTik fleet grew, the Sirius operations team found itself facing a recurring set of operational bottlenecks at every new installation:

  • Slow, error-prone manual configuration: every device was configured by hand, with unpredictable timing and an error rate that turned into downstream rework
  • No autonomy for field technicians: installers did not have the tools to provision devices on their own and depended on the central team for every intervention
  • Bottlenecks during peak seasons: deployment capacity was tied to the back-office team, and peak months meant longer activation times for end customers
  • Configuration inconsistencies: lack of a shared standard meant slightly different configurations site by site, creating downstream overhead on the support team

It was a structural limitation: to serve more end customers at the same quality bar, Sirius had to redesign the way a MikroTik device was brought to life and pushed into production.

How OptiWize helped

OptiWize became an automation platform built around the Sirius workflow, not a generic tool dropped from above. It went into production alongside the existing operating model, amplifying its capacity:

  • Custom MikroTik templates: standardized, reproducible, versioned configurations that eliminate the error margin of manual writing and guarantee consistency across installations
  • Sirius Box 2.0 integration: provisioning is fully integrated with Sirius's proprietary hardware, with seamless flow from order to activation to live service
  • Field-level autonomy for technicians: installers independently select the right template, input the customer's PPPoE data and activate the device themselves, no longer depending on the central team for every step
  • End-to-end order → activation workflow: the entire chain, from the moment a customer subscribes to the moment the device is online, is now an automated and traceable path

Results

The numbers tell a clear story of a step change in Sirius's operations:

  • +30% technical team efficiency: the same team handles a significantly larger installation volume, with no headcount growth
  • 15 minutes per device (down from hours): per-device setup time collapsed thanks to templates and installer autonomy
  • Zero configuration inconsistencies: standardization through templates eliminated configuration drift across installations at the root
  • −90% configuration errors: the error margin of manual writing has been almost entirely removed by automation
  • 100% field technician autonomy: installers no longer depend on the back office to push a device into production

For Sirius the impact is not only operational: automation has freed up valuable resources on the technical team, which can now be invested in high-value initiatives instead of being absorbed by repetitive provisioning work.
