• Devices communicate with a cloud endpoint → you need to configure public IPs and NAT.

• You have internal policies or customers that require local data management and storage.

Real-world use cases Case #1 – Isolated and multi-site infrastructures One of our partners operates in the industrial-port sector, with IoT and MikroTik equipment distributed across several restricted-access areas. Each node has its own protected local network, with no direct visibility to the Internet. In this scenario, the on-premise version is installed locally, and a simple on-demand encrypted VPN allows the OptiWize cloud orchestrator to connect for updates or support, without compromising site security.

Case #2 – MikroTik-based POP backbone management An ISP with numerous distributed POPs adopted OptiWize to manage its MikroTik-based backbone network. Not wanting to deploy an OpenVPN Client to avoid having to manage BGP/OSPF filters, they opted for a dedicated on-premise version for the backbone only, installed within their internal network and directly reachable by the devices.
